Toby Keith, the country’s music superstar died at age 62. He has given some of the biggest hit songs to come out of Nashville, has He was suffering from cancer.
“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5, surrounded by his family,” reads the statementon Keith website. “He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”

Toby Keith announced in June, 1922 that he’d been undergoing treatment for stomach cancer since the previous fall.
The music star, singer and song writer, tweeted at the time that he’d had surgery and chemotherapy and radiation in the prior six months.
Keith announced on social media in 2022 that he had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for stomach cancer since fall 2021.
“So far, so good,” he said at the time. “I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”
“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.” says Toby Keith.

A major country star for three decades, Keith enjoyed hits such as “Red Solo Cup,” “How Do You Like Me Now?!” and “Beer For My Horses,” a duet with Willie Nelson.
Tributes poured Tuesday following news of Keith’s death. Country singer Zach Bryan remembered him in a social media post: “Too many rides in my old man’s car listening to Toby Keith. Really hard thing to hear rest in peace friend we love you.”
John Rich, of the country duo Big & Rich, called Keith a “friend and legend.” “He was a true Patriot, a first class singer/songwriter, and a bigger than life kind of guy. He will be greatly missed,” he wrote.
